Dunbar and Smith, Inc. was founded in 1982. Licensed as a General Contracting firm, we specialize in commercial, institutional, and industrial construction. We are recognized as a dependable, trustworthy, quality focused contractor in the Piedmont area.

Dunbar & Smith, Inc. offers a host of services, including Pre-Construction, Design/Build, and Selective Bidding. Our projects of all types and sizes are on display in the area. We specialize in Medical Offices, Banks, Shopping Centers, Restaurants, Manufacturing Facilities, Schools and Churches.

H. Windley Dunbar

President

Windley Dunbar has been a licensed General Contractor for over thirty five years. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Building Construction. Upon graduation he worked for a local consulting architectural and engineering firm. This time period included managing an overseas branch of the firm in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. In 1982 Windley founded Dunbar & Smith, Inc. Since that time he has overseen the construction of more than 3,000 commercial projects in the Triad area.

Windley is an active member of the Triad community. He is a native of High Point. Windley is a former member of the High Point Rotary Club where he served on the Rotary Board. He has served on the Mental Health Association’s Board, the Administrative Board of his Church, and is on the Advisory Board of a Triad-based bank. He is also a member of the Ut Protsim Society at Virginia Tech. In his spare time he enjoys golf, tennis, and traveling.

Scott W. Dunbar

Vice-President, Project Manager

Scott was born in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. He has lived in High Point since he was two years old and has worked in the construction business since he was sixteen years old. After working summers for his father he decided to pursue a career in construction. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Virginia Tech in 1997, majoring in Building Construction.

Upon graduation from Virginia Tech Scott worked for a nationally known construction firm for two years. He was a project manager for several projects, including a thirty-story office structure in Charlotte, N.C.

In 1999 Scott joined Dunbar & Smith, Inc. as a Certified Project Manager after completing training in the industry’s Project Management Academy. He received his North Carolina General Contractor’s License in 2002. In 2006 Scott became Vice President of Dunbar & Smith, Inc..

Scott lives with his family in High Point. He is a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, member of the High Point Rotary Club and enjoys golf, tennis, boating, and attending Virginia Tech football games.
